MY SPECIALTIES

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING

I believe in working with the individual one on one to provide a safe therapeutic environment - a space that provides openness, honesty and nonjudgment in the exploration of the self.

I do not generally work with whole family systems, nor couples unless the individual and I decide it to be pertinent and/or beneficial to their healing process.

Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy

Spiritually Integrated Psychotherapy is an explorative, non-judgmental type of therapy that allows clients to incorporate their own sense of spirituality into their treatment. It also allows for those who would like to explore spirituality access for a safe space to do so. Please note that this kind of therapy is not based on my own beliefs, nor will my own beliefs be impressed upon anyone else.

Perinatal Mental Health

1 in 7 Moms and 1 in 10 Dads suffer from Postpartum Depression. This does not account for other postpartum mental health conditions such as Postpartum Anxiety, Postpartum OCD and Postpartum psychosis. I have received specialized training and certification from Postpartum Support International, the authority on all things maternal mental health, to treat families who may be experiencing these conditions.

Relational Trauma/CPTSD

Relational trauma occurs when a safe bond is somehow disrupted or broken. These most often occur between parent-child in childhood or in abusive relationships in adulthood. In any case, these experiences can have devastating and pervasive effects on the sufferer.

Complex PTSD is an emerging term that refers to a pattern of habitual and long-term traumatic experiences, usually involving another person perpetrating on the sufferer.

I have experience in treating with these complex wounds and empowering clients to self-heal.

Perinatal Loss

The loss of a child is a specific and isolating kind of grief. If you have experienced fertility problems, miscarriage, or any other type of infant loss, I would like to support you.

Narrative-Focused Trauma Care

The foundational belief of narrative therapy is that the story you tell about your life influences how you view your experiences and overall wellbeing. Trauma certainly impacts the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, what we are capable of and more. In this kind of therapy, we utilize story-telling techniques to help the client tell their own story in a way that feels empowering - we call this "reclaiming your own story".

Birth Trauma & Birth Anxiety

Postpartum PTSD is a very real condition and can be experienced as flashbacks, nightmares, fearfulness, tearfulness, and avoidance of people and places associated with the trauma. Most parents who experience birthing trauma never receive the support they deserve to move forward into healing and health. I hope to partner with parents in need of healing from a difficult birth story. I am also interested in working with expectant parents who feel fearful of birthing.

"Generalist" Therapy

More "general" reasons people seek therapy include anxiety, depression, life transitions, mood disruptions and more.
